Welcome to the website of Ashridge Decorative and Fine Arts Society (ADFAS) based in the Dacorum area of Hertfordshire.

Our Society originated in September 1967 with guidance from Patricia Fay who then, in 1968, founded the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies. We became affiliated to NADFAS in that year becoming its 8th oldest member. NADFAS changed its name in May 2017 and is now known as The Arts Society.

Ashridge is an extremely friendly and enthusiastic society and proud to be one of the founding members of the National Association. We organise 9 lectures each membership year (Autumn through to Summer) on a wide variety of subjects associated with decorative and fine arts. From February 2018, ADFAS has two sessions each month, one in the Morning and the other in the Evening reflecting different topics.  The background for this new Evening development is set out on this website.

These lectures are presented by well qualified experts and specialists from The Arts Society panel. Every year we also organise several one day visits to exhibitions and places of historical, cultural and artistic interest in addition to a five day residential tour alternating between the UK and Overseas.

To get an understanding of the activities of our Society, you can see our current daytime Programme of lectures and events here and our evening lectures here.

Morning meetings are held at Potten End Village Hall with the lecture, lasting about an hour, starting promptly at 10.30 am.  Coffee is served from 10.00 to 10.20 to give members an opportunity to meet, chat and sign up for visits.

Evening lectures take place at the Berkhamsted Civic Centre starting promptly at 8.00 pm, with doors open at 7.30 pm to get to know your fellow members.

Members are welcome to bring visitors, for a small charge, with prior permission from the Secretary.

Please explore our website for more information about who we are and what we do.
